Below is an outline of typical needs within a district and how the SLP can help.

  • Ensure direct service to all students on the workload
  • Annual IEPs
  • Tri-annual Evaluations as appropriate
  • Collaboration and consultation with special education team, general education teachers, and families
  • 20% supervision and direction to the assistant providing therapy every week
  • A great experience in relationship to speech and language service

Assistant supervision needs:

  • Record keeping (treatment notes/data for SLP review)
  • Components of therapy sessions
  • Instruction on components of disability characteristics, as needed (articulation, language, etc.)
  • Interpretation of program plans determined/established by the SLP
  • Instruction on material development
